Day 178

June 27, 2010

We had an outside cinema night at a friend's house. It was already dark when we started watching the movie so I couldn't get a shot of the set-up. This is a shot of the corner of the terrace before it got dark. I think the light has a kind of a fairytale feeling to it.

Day 177

June 26, 2010

It's so hot here in Torino these days. Some days I just stay cooped up at home, trying to make the appartment as fresh as possible, other days I'm more active.
On Saturday I rode my bike for about an hour. I went all the way to the stables but there was no one around so I didn't go riding. I discovered new beautiful bike and running lanes not far from my house and some less attractive exercise tools. Concrete weights, ouch!

Day 176

June 25, 2010

I had my hair done and got some really pretty curls at the salon. I failed at the self-portrait attempt but then for some reason I pointed the camera down. So out came this shot of my pretty new dress and the peep toe wedges that everybody seems to be wearing this summer.

Day 175

June 24, 2010

24th of June is a holiday here in Torino. Although one of Luca's shop was open, he found the time to spend most of the day with me.
We had a great sea-food lunch in a very romantic restaurant by the river. Then we took a walk in a nearby park, where we saved a ladybird from drowning.
It was boiling hot but Luca wanted to take a ride on the four wheel bike, rickshaw thingies, even though I warned him that he would have to do all the pedaling by himself!

Don't worry! Nobody has died!
hehe I just realised now how morbid this photo looks.

I was feeling a bit sad about my family leaving so Luca took me out for dinner and afterwards we drove up the hill to watch the city from above. I didn't really feel like shooting the city. (Still whining about getting a new wide lens.)
I thought the view behing me was more suitable for my little 50mm.

Day 172

June 21, 2010

I came back from the airport really late.
These bubble light are next to a restaurant not far from my house.
I'm starting to think that I've exhausted the 50mm that has been attached to my camera body the last few months. I would like to play with a wider angle. Maybe I'll invest in a new lens before our next holidays.

Day 169

June 18, 2010

My little brother is disabled and as he becomes older and bigger, it becomes harder for my parents to bring him along on holidays. He needs constant care, to be fed and clothed and lifted in and out of cars, beds, his wheelchair.
But he is such a sweet boy and he is such a Joy. He really enjoyed the water and the warm weather. I think it would be harder for my parents not to bring him along.

My family came to visit for a week and we had a lovely time at the seaside. I'm trying to catch up on my uploading now, I've been a bit lazy.

My mom, dad, little brother and sister arrived on Saturday afternoon. It was dark when we arrived at the seaside. My sister showed me some cool new gymnastics moves, it was a little dark for action shots without flash but I caugh this one just between moves.

I had an amazing Sunday with Luca.
We went wine tasting, had a delicious 3 hour lunch, snoozed on a blanked in a field, fled the field because of scary bugs (yes we are city kids), strolled around a medieval castle, had more wine and admired the beautiful hills around Alba.

I've been wanting to try the new pink Martini for a while and finally picked up the cute little bottles at the supermarket. Luca was happy to receive an aperitif at the door when he came home but after one glass he deemed them a 'little too sweet'. Well that leaves more for me!

Day 153

June 2, 2010

It's a holiday here in Italy. I woke up early and went for a walk in the mountains with Luca and his dad. I'd never been to this place before. Luca's dad told me that he used to come here all the time with his friends when he was our age. They walked through the forest for an hour and half before coming to a big meadow with mountain springs and a spectacular view over the valley. They used to carry bottles of wine and crystal glasses and all kinds of gourmet food. They were the envy of all the other hikers with their bottles of water and squished sandwiches.

They walk up was more photogenic in my opinion. I was surprised to find a little ghost town half way up. There has obviously never been a road there just a little trail. For me it was fascinating, I could have stayed for hours photographing the ruins but I had to hurry along to catch the others.
