It was sooo hot today. I wish I had been at the beach. Instead I was driving across town only to find all the shops I wanted closed.
So on my way back home I stopped to meet some friends. They were at the park with their little girl. In a corner of the park the kids were playing on a big jumping castle and the parents were sitting on beach chairs.
Naima made a 'beauty house' for her little robot.

I made a discovery today.
There was a bowl full of yummy olives.
Luca was not on the premises so I felt confident to leave the room for 5 minutes.
It was a mistake.
The bowl was empty when I came back (I was too sad to take a photo).
Luca's father WAS on the premises.
Lesson learned.
Now I now where Luca gets his speed of light olive eating skills.

Sorry about the creepiness of today's pics. I get all itchy just looking at them.
Sorry about the bad quality as well. Needless to say, I did not want to risk my life by getting out of the car. I'm just sad I didn't get a shot of some poor buggar trying to fill his tank ehehe.
Although it was interesting to see that the mosquitoes were more attracted to some of the lights.

We had dinner at the local pizzeria to talk about some bath and kitchen ideas. My sister is an architect and she has been such an awesome help to us.

What a lovely day we had. We went up to Lago Maggiora to visit family.
First we had a nice lunch on the terrace overlooking the lake. Luca took a little swim and then we took a spin on uncle Angelo's boat.

The demolition went really well. The appartment has now been stripped of all flooring, bathrooms emptied, a couple of walls knocked down and all doors have been removed.
We might have to wait another week or two for the next job to start.

The work is going well. The workers have already removed much of the flooring and knocked down a couple of walls. I'm taking photos every day to document the progress.

Another cute little guy for my collection.
I'm going to shoot every old fiat500 that I see around town and hopefully soon I'll have a nice little collection. I haven't exactly decided what I'll do with it, but I have a couple of ideas.

Granpa's brother and his wife moved to Canada about 50 years ago. They still come over every few years to see the family in Italy. I've heard so many great stories from their past. We took a drive to the countryside to where grandpa's parents used to live and we visited them at their final resting place.
It's so beautiful there with rolling hills and little towns, very peaceful and quiet.

We had such a great Sunday. A friend has a summer house in the country. We enjoyed the sun and the pool and great food all day long.

The city is so deserted in August, half of the shops and restaurants are closed. One of Luca's shops is open so we have to stay in town. Thankfully one of my favourite restaurants is open as well.

Granpa's brother is visiting from Canada. It's so great how he keeps up with technology. He just got an Ipad and the 3 of them spent all evening playing with their apps and whatnot.

A few years ago, before I moved to Italy, I used to come over here every few weeks to see Luca. I remember his mom was always giving me little presents; jewelry, hand bags etc.
Oh how things have changed. Guess what she got me the other day!

Saturday evening we drove out of the city and south to the region of Alba to visit some friends. We had a great dinner with old and new friends (lots of wine with a bit of food on the side). And I finally got a tour of their cellar.
I really hope to go back in September when the vines are ripe.
